Here’s the latest outrage from our “friends” in the government. And, it’s in the mighty “free” state of Texas, to boot.

A quick recap.

New London, CT seizes Suzette Kelo’s via eminent domain so that Pfizer can build a big development.

Kelo sues, gets all the way to SCOTUS, loses 5-4.

Texans, among others, are outraged.

Texas passes anti-eminent-domain protections, with massive (81%) public support.

Politicians find a loophole to go against popular will and seize Hinga Mbogo’s auto repair business by changing the zoning of his property.

Because they didn’t take it right away, they consider the time he got to keep his property after the change to be time in which he is “compensated” for the taking. Therefore, they don’t even have to give him the “just compensation” that 5A requires. And, they have an 8-1 SCOTUS preceded to back them up.

Just shows that greedy politicians don’t give up so easily. The thought that these are the people who will protect and defend us from the evil “capitalists” of the private sector is nothing more than onanistic delusion.
