Comments Policy

I encourage and welcome robust discussion and both concurring and dissenting viewpoints and opinions. Comments are unmoderated and adult language is not prohibited. That said, this website is not affiliated with government at any level beyond that which preserves peace in my household, so your First Amendment rights do not exist here. I therefore reserve the right to edit or delete any post for any reason whatsoever without prior notice, including those that involve:

  • advertising or other spam
  • content not relevant to the discussion
  • links not relevant to the discussion
  • attacks on persons rather than positions aka ad hominem posts
  • pointless vulgarity
  • deliberate trolling i.e. disingenuous posts intended to agitate

I prefer to employ a light hand and am apt to leave offensive posts intact as a demonstration of the author’s impropriety, but please try to show a modicum of respect for others in your posts here. We learn from each other far better when our exchanges are civilized. That said, I am likely to be more tolerant of aggressive posts made under real names than under pseudonyms. If you want to have hot arguments, don’t hide behind fake names if you want others to respect your points of view.

Please also be aware that you will encounter adult language and adult themes, and that some posts and comments might offend you. As you’ll learn from my writings, I hold in contempt the notion that someone has a right not to be offended, so if you want to engage in discussion within a safe space, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I also reserve the right to ban any poster who, in my sole discretion, deserves banning.

Take note: If you are a first-time commenter and have not registered/logged in, your initial comments will be held for moderator approval. Subsequent comments from that email address will post immediately, as will all comments made by members. Moderator approval may take some time, so I encourage you to register if you want to join the conversation right away.
