Bjorn Lomborg, an environmentalist who is among those who suggest that there are more pressing issues in the world than AGW, was recently disinvited from speaking at an Australian university because some students made a bunch of noise.

It exposes the group-think stupidity of global warming true-believers. Lomborg is not a denier, and he’s not a skeptic. He is someone who believes AGW is real, but also believes that combating it by doing harm to “growth,” i.e. today’s poor, is wrong. His Copenhagen Consensus advances the very legitimate idea that there are far more pressing concerns in the world today than AGW, and that scarce resources should not be misallocated to address AGW.

Again, we see the false conflation of belief that humans are causing global warming with the singular mitigation strategy of carbon caps and taxes.

I think most of the climate change “orthodox” are, to put it bluntly, of the “useful idiot” sort. The rest surely recognize both the harm and futility of attempts at carbon caps as an AGW mitigator, but believe that the other consequences i.e. massive wealth transfer and massive control over economies, are the real benefit.

Orwell’s sheep famously drowned out dissent by bleating “four legs good, two legs bad” over and over again as others tried to stand against those in charge. I suspect that Orwell isn’t taught to very many in schools nowadays.
